The Madiline Living Index evaluates every location we cover across 21 dimensions grouped into five categories — Threshold, Market, Operations, Environment, and Life. Each dimension receives a score from 1 to 10, creating a 210-point intelligence profile designed to measure the long-term viability and trajectory of a place.

The MLI is not a ranking system, and it is not a recommendation engine. It is a structured assessment of the forces that shape long-term value: market dynamics, legal frameworks, infrastructure resilience, water security, climate trajectory, healthcare access, and cultural depth.

Where is this market heading?

What risks remain unpriced?

Can this place support a stable, enjoyable, long-term life?

The scorecard is designed to answer those questions with clarity, structure, and context.

Threshold
Can I buy here — and can I trust what the market is telling me?
4 dimensions
Market
What is the real estate and economic intelligence picture?
5 dimensions
Operations
Can I get here, build here, live here, and function here?
3 dimensions
Environment
What are the physical conditions — now and over the next 20 years?
6 dimensions
Life
Would I actually want to live here?

9–10
World-class

Among the best globally for this dimension. Defensible against any comparator in the MLI canon.

7–8
Strong

A genuine competitive advantage. This dimension enhances the corridor’s value proposition.

4–6
Adequate

Meets baseline expectations. Not a competitive advantage. A corridor cannot be led by its fives.

1–3
Constraint

A dimension that would cause most buyers to reconsider, or requires exceptional compensating factors elsewhere.
